How we're funded

Independence and flexibility

Peace Direct raises funds from a range of sources, to meet the different needs of our peacebuilding partners.

  • Regular monthly donations go directly to partners, providing them with the flexibility to respond to new opportunities for peacebuilding, while donors receive regular updates from the field

Currently we are requesting recurring donations, minimum $10/month, for Sri Lanka, DR Congo (Centre Résolution Conflits), Pakistan, Kashmir and DR Congo (Fondation Chirezi).

  • Cash donations help us to build our capacity in the US to advocate for our innovative ‘local first’ approach

We wouldn’t be able to process donations and grants or make sure we are visible in key policy settings without these donations

  • Grants from foundations enable our partners to work on a bigger scale and take a longer-term view.
  • ‘In a hurry’ money from high net worth individuals means that we can meet our partners’ urgent requests

When post-election violence broke out in Kenya in 2007, an immediate transfer of funds from Peace Direct enabled Concerned Citizens for Peace to initiate daily meetings to anticipate and prevent outbreaks of violence.

At present our policy is not to pursue funding from the US government.
